Position: Full-time Activities Clinical Aide
Schedule: Wednesday through Sunday, 8:00am to 4:30pm
Pay Range: $15.50/hour to $22.00/hour
Position Summary: The Activities Clinical Aide is responsible for planning, leading, and implementing recreational activities and programs for individuals or groups in various settings. This role emphasizes the therapeutic benefits of recreational activities, aiming to enhance participants' physical, emotional, and social well-being. The Activities Clinical Aide engages participants in a variety of activities, ensuring their safety, promoting positive social interactions, and fostering a fun and inclusive environment.
Essential Duties:
- Develop and organize recreational programs and activities, such as sports, arts and crafts, games, and special events, with a focus on their therapeutic benefits.
- Adapt activities to meet the therapeutic needs, abilities, and interests of participants.
- Prepare materials and equipment needed for activities, ensuring they are conducive to therapeutic outcomes.
- Supervise and engage with participants to ensure a safe and enjoyable environment.
- Monitor participant behavior and manage conflicts or issues as they arise, employing therapeutic techniques as appropriate.
- Provide support and encouragement to participants, promoting positive social interactions and therapeutic goals.
- Work collaboratively with other recreation staff to coordinate activities and ensure program goals are met.
- Attend staff meetings and training sessions as required.
- Assist in the evaluation and improvement of recreation programs, focusing on enhancing therapeutic outcomes.
Education and Training: Bachelor or Associate degree preferred. Must have a valid New York State Driver’s License and be able to utilize/drive vehicles on outings with residents. Previous experience working with adults in an activities therapeutic setting is highly desirable.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to lead and motivate participants in various activities.
- Good organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Basic knowledge of first aid and CPR; certification is a plus.
- Understanding of therapeutic principles and the ability to apply them in a activity based setting.
