Job Title: Bus Person
Status: Part-Time

Department: Operations

Reports To: Restaurant Manager

*Age 16 and up*

Summary

Ensures guests are seated at a clean and properly set table within the shortest amount of time possible. Works with servers and Host/Hostess’ to ensure guest receive excellent service.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Include the following and other duties may be assigned. Carries dirty dishes from dining room to kitchen. Wipes table tops and chairs with damp cloth. Replaces soiled table linens and sets tables with silverware and glassware. Replenishes bread baskets, supply of clean linens, silverware, glassware, and dishes in dining room. Supplies service bar with food such as soups, salads, and desserts. Serves ice water and butter to patrons. Cleans and polishes glass shelves and doors of service bars and equipment such as coffee urns and cream and milk dispensers.

Checks cleanliness of the bus stand from previous shift and notifies manager of any problems. Cleans the bus stand, restocks and prepares bus stand for shift change and / or close. Properly completes all involvement with guest service sequences. Checks daily with M.O.D. and completes assigned duties. Checks high chairs and booster seats for cleanliness

Empties trash and spot sweeps the restaurant and bar floor. Prepares coffee and iced tea and restocks during shift as needed. Cleans and sanitizes throughout the shift. Keeps immediate supervisor promptly and fully informed of all problems or unusual matters of significance and takes prompt corrective action where necessary or suggests alternative courses of action which may be taken.

Performs all duties and responsibilities in a timely and effective manner in accordance with established company policies to achieve the overall objectives of the position. Provides a favorable image of the Company at all times to promote its aims and objectives, and to foster and enhance public recognition and acceptance of all its areas of endeavor. Attends scheduled mandatory staff meetings.

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills

Ability to speak and read the English language a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
