Position purpose/core responsibilities

Under general supervision, the Set-up Tech performs injection-molding press machine set-ups, set-downs and start-ups, as well as instructs and advises machine operators on required and/or proper operation of press machines to produce quality parts

Main Duties

• From schedule, obtains required molds from the tooling room and transports to the proper press
• From specifications, drawings, charts, written or verbal instructions, hangs and clamps molds into injection molding machines
• Plumbs water, oil, hook-up, chillers, and heaters as required to ensure proper mold production
• Sets press machine parameters into the press from set-up sheets
• Dry-cycles machine and adjusts as necessary
• Assists machine operators in the proper operation of the press as required
• Performs machine set-downs by removing molds, removing and cleaning machine hook-up lines, cleaning molds, and returning molds to the tooling room
• Performs periodic walk-arounds to check for proper machine operation and parts quality.
• Assists in the cleanup of molding room equipment or facilities
• May deliver materials to machines, run machines, empty grinders and dryers, and perform related duties as assigned or directed
  

• Must be able to work on your feet on concrete floor all day
• Must be able to lift 20-30 lbs. on a frequent basis
• Must be able to climb stairs or ladders, kneel and bend on a regular basis. Requires manual dexterity sufficient to use hand tools
• Must be able to read work instructions and complete paperwork in the English language and to communicate verbally with coworkers, supervisors and others in English

Skill, training, or educational requirements

• Some experience working in a manufacturing environment is required. Experience working with injection-molding machines is preferred
