Job Description – Plant Simulation Engineer

FSLA Status: Exempt

Location: Lordstown, OH

Reports To: Advanced Engineering Manager

Direct Reports: None

Primary Function: As a key member of the manufacturing planning engineering team, you will be responsible for supporting plant simulation activities for developing advanced simulation models to support manufacturing layout planning. You will need to work seamlessly with a multidisciplinary team and present project progress to various internal and external stakeholders.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Gather project-related information through internal and external stakeholders and sources.
  • Create simulation models for General Assembly, BIW, Stamping, and paint shop to understand workflow, lineside consumption, and material replenishment strategy and analyze process bottlenecks, buffer quantity requirements, manpower requirement, and utilization.
  • Work on Factory Layout Design, Material Flow Simulation, and throughput simulation for various manufacturing line layout concepts.
  • Build logic and create simulation models based on various what-if scenarios.
  • Present simulation outcomes and the recommendations
  • Creating Technical proposals and providing required inputs for layout planning.
  • Deliver results per defined key project milestones along with team members and collaborators.
  • Present project progress updates and results to stakeholders and management

Required Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or associate degree with equivalent experience.

Required Experience

  • 2+ years of experience in Discrete event Simulation Modeling, Material flow and Plant capacity analysis
  • Previous experience with Plant Simulation or other Discrete Event simulations
  • Previous experience implementing manufacturing Plant Design and Optimization solutions.
  • Previous experience working as a consultant in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of applying factory simulation tools & developing optimized plant flow
  • Experience working on Technomatix plant simulation / Flexsim software.
  • Experience working on Technomatix plant simulation AutoCAD and SolidWorks / Catia.
  • Experience with Factory capacity planning, New Plant Design, Advanced Planning, and scheduling

Requires Skills/Licenses/Certifications

  • Strong knowledge of applying factory simulation tools & developing optimized plant flow
  • Good Communication skills Team Player, Self-Motivated & a Self-Starter
  • Experience with Factory capacity planning, New Plant Design, Advanced Planning, and scheduling
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills are an absolute requirement to establish and maintain professional, effective working relationships within and outside the company.
  • Must be self-directed with exceptional time management, prioritization, and organizational skills; Strong project management skills to keep team and actions on track to completion.
  • Prior background in automotive industries; Experience working with Automotive Suppliers is a plus.
  • Strong background in Factory simulation tools and techniques.
  • Strong background in Layout design & Optimization.
  • Demonstrated hands-on approach, analytical abilities, and attention to detail.
  • Motivated to learn and develop incredible on-the-job experience.
