JOB TITLE: X-Ray Technologist

SUMMARY:

The X-Ray Technologist is responsible for operating X-ray and other imaging equipment to produce films or digital images of patient's internal structures, using radiation safety measures and examining them for quality; performing a range of technical procedures that require independent judgment, ingenuity and initiative in order to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis; developing films, processing images, preparing reports, and maintaining equipment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Perform diagnostic imaging procedures to produce high-quality images to assist physicians with accurate diagnosis of medical issues.
- Set up imaging equipment and prepare patients for procedures.
- Protect patients and themselves from radiation exposure by practicing radiation safety.
- Follow physician's orders and protocols when performing all radiological procedures.
- Maintain accurate and complete records and reports of all exams performed.
- Process and develop images in a timely manner for physician review and interpretation.
- Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and report them to the appropriate personnel.
- Maintain inventory of supplies and keep equipment in good working condition.
- Effectively communicate with patients, physicians, and healthcare staff regarding procedures and results.
- Continuously improve knowledge and skills through ongoing education, training, and professional development activities.

REQUIREMENTS:

- Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Radiologic Technology or a related field.
- Active ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) certification and current state licensure.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and maintain professionalism in stressful situations.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Knowledge of radiation safety principles and regulations.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
- Knowledge of imaging software and electronic medical record systems.
- Ability to adapt to new and changing technology and procedures.
