Senior Accountant/Assistant Controller

Over the past 8 years, we have quietly grown into the largest producer of social media ads in the USA. While our public profile is minimal, we have hundreds of employees, billions of dollars in ad spend, and deep technical partnerships with major platforms. Our unique pay for performance business model, where clients only pay if our ads outperform others, has led to high client retention and all sales to date coming from inbound or word-of-mouth referrals.
About the Role
As the Senior Accountant/Assistant Controller, you will be responsible for managing financial accounting processes for our high-growth, tech-enabled service business. Your responsibilities will span G/L management, payroll, month-end analytics, financial analysis, accounts receivable, accounts payable, taxes, and banking relationships. Reporting directly to the CFO, you will ensure accurate, complete, and timely financial reporting within GAAP standards. This role involves managing direct reports in payroll, accounts payable, and general accounting.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee financial accounting processes including G/L management, payroll, financial analysis, and month-end analytics.
- Manage accounts receivable, accounts payable, taxes, and banking relationships.
- Ensure financials are reported accurately, completely, and timely within GAAP standards.
- Lead and manage a team of payroll, accounts payable, and general accountants.
- Act as a key finance representative across sales, operations, creative, and strategy teams.
- Enhance existing processes to support increased efficiencies, control, and accuracy.
- Drive continuous improvement within the finance department.
Ideal Candidate
- 7+ years of experience in a relevant accounting role, including 3+ years in a management role overseeing 4+ people.
- BS degree in Accounting/Finance or equivalent.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel/Google Sheets (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP).
- Experience with multi-state payroll processing and payroll taxes.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Demonstrated experience managing a team in a high-growth, tech-enabled service business.
- Comfortable working with deadlines and willing to work extended hours when necessary.
- Problem-solving skills leveraging analytics, technology, and process support across teams.
- CPA license is ideal but not required.
- Knowledge of GAAP.
Nice-to-Haves
- Knowledge of SQL.
- Experience in B2B SaaS, AdTech/MarTech.
- Background in consultative roles.
