Celebrities, government officials, head of states, secretaries, industry leaders, all traveling out of Houston aboard private, corporate, and commercial aircrafts are part of Abby’s valued circle of customers. Abby’s also provides exclusive gourmet delights for corporate offices, private and corporate events as well as food service management contracts. Our Chefs ensure that Abby’s food creations are a ‘passport’ to a culinary journey of cultural and diverse preferences. Innovation, trend setting menus, highest customer satisfaction is the signature of Abby’s Catering. Our culinary team will make sure our customers enjoy an unforgettable dining experience while adhering to the highest food safety standards of the industry.

This position is PART TIME only, Monday - Thursday, 8am-3:30pm. Location is at Post Oak Blvd and San Felipe St.

Position:

  • Following directions, recipes, and specifications always
  • Completing Food Safety documentations daily
  • Supporting the team to complete production
  • Ensuring that all standards for food safety and quality are consistently met or exceeded.
  • Keep all storage areas above hygiene standards and guarantee proper product rotation.
  • Control overproduction and keep wastage to a minimum.
  • Team player with a positive attitude, creative, leading by example, articulate, and energetic. Excellent communications skills with same level team partners and senior management
  • Ensure smooth and efficient production flow to meet all Kitchen Ready Times always.
  • Detailed oriented with key focus on quality assurance and food safety compliance.
  • Must be able to display strong knowledge of culinary technique and work at high rate.
  • Assist in completing preparation, cooking meals and presenting meals.
  • Ability to work various kitchen equipment.
  • Must be able to display knowledge of HCAP Cooling Procedures
  • Complete trim and break down of proteins when needed.
  • Experience or knowledge of food ingredients, preparation and cooking techniques, and attractive food presentation.

Essential functions:


  • Leadership, Management and Accountability
  • Passionate about Gourmet Food
  • Comply with all Food Safety rules and regulations.
  • Control overproduction and keep wastage to a minimum.
  • Follow working / batch recipes using the proper tools (e.g. scales, scoops etc.)
  • Be a self-starter who works independently with minimal supervision.
  • Skill or experience performing culinary knife techniques.
  • Able to work in a cold environment (41 F cold room) daily for an extended amount of time if necessary.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, communication and leadership skills required.
  • Bilingual English / Spanish (for verbal communication only)
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • Ability to read and interpret loading instructions, diagrams, and food menu specifications.
  • Highly flexible and analytical, pro-active team player
  • Excellent knowledge of food and hygiene standards
  • Must hold a valid Food Protection Manager Certificate, recognized by local authorities (e.g., SERV Safe).
  • Meticulous time management skills with the ultimate attention to detail

Requirements:

Requirements, but not limited to: This position requires you to lead the entire team to success ( highest product quality, highest productivity output, complying with all food safety rules and regulations).

Qualifications:


Passion for gourmet food and providing the ultimate in customer experience.

Creative mind, making sure Abby’s gourmet food products are setting us apart from the competition.

Must possess strong culinary skills in both hot and cold preparations.

Must possess a Food Safety Certification that is valid and recognized by the local authorities.

Proficient knowledge of food safety programs, cooking supplies and equipment

Must ensure the quality preparation of all menu items with a clear understanding of food fundamentals.

Three 3+ years hands on experience as a Line Cook or similar position within a high volume and complex culinary operation of a similar size and quality.

Knowledge of HACCP and food safety programs and food industry standards

Ability to cultivate working relationship with internal customers.

Availability to handle numerous tasks simultaneously and able to work well under pressure in a fast pace environment.

Can easily adapt to change.
