Location: Taconic Biosciences is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Technician 2 to join our dedicated Facilities team at our Germantown, NY site.
The Pay Range: $29 - $32. Exact compensation may vary based on several factors. These factors include, but are not limited to, geographic location, experience, training, education, and local market conditions.
The Schedule: Monday – Friday, with an on-call 24 -hour rotation, typically 1 time per week, which includes the weekends.

The Role:
The Facilities Maintenance Technician will be responsible for performing scheduled maintenance of equipment, primarily HVAC. They will visually learn to inspect, test, troubleshoot, clean, repair and install equipment including boilers, autoclaves, air conditioners, compressors, and generators. As needed this position will assist with construction of new facilities and renovations of existing facilities, repairing, and maintaining the physical structure of establishments upon request.
Duties of the Facilities Maintenance Technician include the following:
- Inspecting, testing, operating, and maintaining facilities systems such as HVAC, boilers, specialty water systems, compressed air, emergency generators, building management system and fire life safety.
- Inspecting, testing, operating, and maintaining production systems including tunnel washer, freezers, conveyors, and autoclaves.
- Monitoring and controlling facilities systems throughout the site through the building management system.
- Interfacing with controls for the facilities, building and production equipment.
- Inspecting, testing, operating, maintaining, installing, and repairing mechanical, electrical and hydraulic equipment.
- Responding to site alarms while onsite and when On Call. Able to respond to emergencies within 20 minutes.
- Documenting work performed in the company CMMS.
- Reviewing performance of facilities and production equipment and recommending repairs, major maintenance and replacement of components and systems.
- Training facilities maintenance staff.
- Adherence to and providing recommended updates to site and global facilities standard operating procedures.
- Coordinate work performed by external Service Providers and Contractors
- Associate’s degree or BOCEs CTE Program degree with a focus in Electrical Construction and Maintenance, Heating / Air Conditioning / Refrigeration Technical Services or equivalent.
- HVAC experience strongly preferred.
- Minimum 6 years relevant experience and/or related training.
- Experience in skilled or technical assignments requiring previous training to perform operations and resolve problems where some guidelines or standards are provided.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Insurability through Taconic’s insurance carrier required.
- Ability to obtain forklift certification.
- Ability to obtain EPA certification for refrigerant handling.
- Ability to communicate with all levels of an organization both inside and outside of the company.
- 608-Universal certification preferred, or willingness and ability to gain.
- Considerable and strenuous physical exertion is required such as frequent climbing, crouching, crawling, and/or lifting items up to 100 pounds.
- Frequent use of chemicals, protective measures, and/or work with heavy machinery is required. Frequent exposure to extremes in temperature, outdoor weather, and/or noise levels occurs within the work environment, and/or access to the work environment may be restricted. Job duties are often performed during non-standard working hours.
