Aerospace Machinist

A local based leader in aerospace manufacturing is hiring Aerospace Machinists (Manual and CNC) for their Cincinnati based operations. A trained machinist will perform machining to aerospace components and assemblies in accordance with GE policies and regulations from the FAA and Military.

In this role you will develop, manufacture and repair critical turbine components for a range of engine platforms. Your contributions will support engines running in the aerospace, energy, and defense industries around the world.

Responsibilities:

  • Set-up and operate a wide range to standard machine tools (VTLs, manual lathes, CNC lathes, manual mills, CNC mills, surface grinders, O.D. / I.D. grinders, boring mills).
  • Must be able to machine to hold close tolerances (.0005 or less).
  • Understand and use GD&T.
  • Work from process travelers, blueprints, parts drawings, manuals, specifications and verbal directions to determine proper dimensions and tolerances of finished part sequence of operation, and setup requirements.
  • Effectively communicate and understand verbal and written directions.

 

Requirements:

  • Familiar with Aerospace alloys such as Inco 718, Inco 625, Titanium, Waspaloy, etc.
  • Ongoing FAA Testing and Training Mandatory.
  • High School diploma or equivalent- documentation required.
  • Must meet ITAR definition of US Person(s)- documentation required.
  • Adhere to AS9100 and other quality standards.

 

Desired Qualifications:

  • 7 or more years’ relevant experience in the Aerospace industry as a Tool Maker.
  • Repair of turbomachinery structures (ie Stators, Frames, HPC/LPT Cases, Supports etc).
  • Knowledge of tool geometry (rake angle, helix, primary and secondary angles).
  • Knowledgeable at programming CNC controls.
  • Knowledge and use of trigonometry as well as machinist math.
  • Familiar with assembly/disassembly procedures and use of torque and torque procedures.
  • Knowledge and application of interference fits (ratio to size).
