Your Responsibilities

As a dental hygienist in our practice, you'll specialize in performing diagnostics, offering services, and providing products for optimal oral health. Your role will involve applying your technical skills in dental hygiene and staying up-to-date with the latest research on periodontal and oral health.

 

You'll play a crucial part in helping patients understand their current dental health and its impact on overall health, longevity, and quality of life.   • Perform clinical hygiene functions efficiently, including radiographs, blood pressure monitoring, prophylaxis, non-surgical periodontal therapy, and co-assessment of possible restorative treatments with the doctor.
  • Accurately diagnose and enter hygiene treatment plans, as well as dentist treatment plans when requested.
  • Ensure patients comprehend the consequences of their dental conditions and inspire action for necessary treatment.
  • Effectively utilize patient education materials to encourage treatment follow-through.
  • Teach patients appropriate oral hygiene strategies, such as toothbrushing, flossing, and nutritional counseling.
  • Administer locally applied antimicrobials and offer fluoride treatment as directed by the doctor.
  • Perform non-surgical periodontal therapy, place sealants, and perform coronal polishing.
  • Utilize intraoral camera effectively and screen for oral cancer.
  • Take alginate impressions and fabricate whitening trays if necessary.
  • Maintain accurate and timely chart notes.
  • Follow OSHA guidelines for operatory cleanliness prior to patient appointments.
  • Coordinate with dental assistants responsible for ordering and maintaining hygiene supplies and deliverable products.
  • Foster a harmonious working relationship with clinical assistants, administrative team members, and dentists.
  • Proactively contribute to a productive schedule by scheduling patients for treatment and recall, and reaching out to unscheduled patients through various communication channels.

 

Qualifications

  • Dental Hygiene certification from an accredited dental hygiene school.
  • Active Radiology & CPR License.
  • Current hygiene license issued by the state of employment (renewed annually).
  • Maintain annual OSHA, HIPAA, and Infection Control training as required by law.
