A DAY IN THE LIFE OF AN EXECUTIVE CHEF
As an Executive Chef, you play a crucial role in helping us keep guests coming back to our restaurant as well as helping us manage all foodservice operations and BOH staff. Much of your time is spent orchestrating schedules and coordinating the work of chefs, cooks, and other BOH employees. With a focus on food preparation that is economical, efficient, and exceptional, you oversee everything from inventory and food costs to projecting costs for each entree and evaluating all food products for quality. You enjoy planning out seasonal items and developing dishes that not only exceed guests' expectations but also keep our restaurant profitable. To keep our staff and guests safe, you ensure high standards of hygiene, cleanliness, and safety throughout all kitchen areas.
In addition to managing our food service, you monitor all BOH and kitchen operations including ordering supplies and managing day-to-day financial tasks. You are confident when preparing monthly food and labor costs and take pride in your ability to help us maintain profitability through annual cost projections. To keep us in the red, you monitor actual financial results and take corrective action, as necessary, to ensure that financial targets are met. You also make it a priority to minimize food waste and theft. Further, you foster a positive work environment where staff is actively trained and mentored to help enhance their culinary knowledge and skills. Ultimately, your attention to detail and commitment to excellence ensures that our customers enjoy a quality culinary experience. QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of experience as an Executive Chef
- Certificate of completion from a trade school
- Extensive food and wine knowledge
- Leadership/management experience
- Basic computer skills, including proficiency with Word, spreadsheets, and email correspondence
