Job Summary:
As a Direct Support Professional at COD Health Care, you will provide care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities, ensuring their comfort, safety, and fostering their independence within a compassionate and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist clients with daily living activities, including personal care, hygiene, and nutritional needs.
- Implement and monitor individual service plans to promote the individual's well-being, independence, and social growth.
- Provide transportation for clients to appointments, community events, and other activities.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of clients, adhering to all agency policies and compliance with DODD regulations.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of care provided, behavioral observations, and incident reports.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with clients, their families, and other healthcare professionals.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to ensure best practices in client care and compliance with health and safety standards.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; further education in a healthcare-related field preferred.
- Previous experience in a caregiving role or working with individuals with developmental disabilities is highly desirable.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a compassionate and patient demeanor.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a commitment to client-centered care.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Must pass background checks and meet DODD employment eligibility criteria.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to physically assist clients, which may include lifting or moving up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods of time.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
