Instrument Technician - Veteran Wanted in Gainesville, FL

We are currently seeking a motivated veteran with instrument technician experience to join our team as an Instrument Technician in Gainesville, FL. As an Instrument Technician, you will play a crucial role in the installation, calibration, troubleshooting, and maintenance of instruments and control systems within our facility. Your expertise and dedication will contribute to ensuring the accurate and efficient operation of our equipment and processes.

Position: Instrument Technician

Location: Gainesville, FL

Responsibilities:

  • Install, calibrate, and maintain a wide range of instruments and control systems, including but not limited to pressure gauges, flow meters, temperature sensors, level transmitters, control valves, and analytical instruments.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with instruments and control systems, identifying and implementing effective solutions.
  • Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance on instruments and control systems to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
  • Perform instrument loop checks, calibration, and validation according to established procedures and standards.
  • Collaborate with the maintenance team and operations personnel to coordinate maintenance activities and minimize downtime.
  • Follow safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment for yourself and others.
  • Document and maintain accurate records of instrument maintenance, repairs, and calibration activities.
  • Keep updated on new technologies and industry trends in instrument and control systems, and recommend improvements to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Provide guidance and training to junior technicians or apprentices, as required.
  • Adhere to company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements related to instrumentation and control systems.

Requirements:

  • Veterans are strongly encouraged to apply, bringing their valuable skills and dedication to the role.
  • High School diploma or equivalent. Completion of a technical program in instrumentation or a related field is preferred.
  • Proven experience as an instrument technician, preferably in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of instrumentation principles, control systems, and measurement techniques.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical and instrument diagrams, blueprints, and technical manuals.
  • Experience in instrument calibration, loop checking, and troubleshooting using specialized tools and equipment.
  • Familiarity with programmable logic controllers (PLCs), distributed control systems (DCS), and SCADA systems is desirable.
  • Basic understanding of electrical circuits and ability to perform basic electrical tasks.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to diagnose and resolve issues effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work with precision.
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Physical stamina and ability to perform tasks that may include standing, bending, and lifting.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and on-call duties as required.
