Summary

The CNC Machinist is responsible for the programming, setup, and operation of computer controlled machines to perform one or more machine functions on metal or plastic work pieces. 

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Program, setup, and run vertical and horizontal CNC machines
  • Review program specification or blueprints to determine and set machine operations and sequencing, finished work piece dimensions, or numerical control sequences
  • Mount, install, align, and secure tools, attachments, fixtures, and work pieces on machines, using hand tools and precision measuring instruments
  • Insert control instructions into machine control units to start operation
  • Listen to machines during operations to detect sounds such as those made by dull cutting tools or excessive vibration and adjust machines to compensate for problems
  • Stop machines to remove finished work pieces or to change tooling, setup, or work piece placement, according to required machining sequences
  • Measures dimension of finished work pieces to ensure conformance to specification, using precision measuring instruments
  • Reliable attendance
  • Ensure to abide by safety regulations
  • Other duties as assigned in Management’s sole discretion


Skills, Knowledge, & Abilities

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Familiarity with vertical and/or horizontal milling machines strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with G-Code
  • CAM programming experience. Powermill strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with Tool and Mold Making preferred
  • Ability to follow written and verbal communication
  • Must be able to communicate to others, as well as be able to receive communications from others
  • Demonstrate knowledge of safety procedures pertaining to the general operator
  • Must have or obtain forklift certification


Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to work overtime when required by management
  • Must have flexible working schedule to support molding operations
  • Repetitive bending/reaching
  • Standing for sustained periods to time
  • Must be able to lift up to 45 pounds
