Radiologic Technologist- Clinical Coordinator

 

Employment Type: Full or Part Time (8:00am-4:30pm, 8:00am-12:00pm, or 12:00pm-4:30pm)
Minimum Experience: Mid-level
Compensation: 35.00-40.00

 

Definition of Position:

Responsible for clinical and didactic instruction and evaluation of students enrolled at
National Polytechnic College (NPC) School of Medical Imaging in accordance with standards established by the State of California and other licensing or certification agencies.

 

Minimum Requirements:

Education: A Bachelor’s degree from an academic institution accredited by an agency recognized by the United States Department of Education or the Council of Higher Education Association.

Certification: Must possess and maintain the following certifications with the State of California, California Department of Public Health- Radiologic Health Branch (CDPH-RHB) :
1) Certified Radiologic Technologist (CRT); 2) Fluoroscopy Permit; and 3) Basic Life Support (BLS)

Registration: Must possess and maintain registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)

Experience: Two (2) years of experience as a Radiologic Technologist in a hospital or medical institution, following receipt of registration from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)



Desired Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree from an academic institution accredited by an agency recognized by the United States Department of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation is highly desirable.
  • Possession or eligibility for state and national certifications in Radiography and/or advanced registries such as Computed Tomography (CT), Nuclear Medicine, and Mammography is preferred.
  • Proficiency in the following areas is preferred: Curriculum development; instruction; including the use of technology in the teaching and learning process; effective communication with staff and outside personnel; student evaluation and academic advising.

 

 

Essential Job Duties:

  • Oversee the supervision of radiologic technology students in the clinical setting, ensuring that State procedures are being met.
  • Acquisition and obtaining clinical sites required for student externship.
  • Visit clinical sites once every two months to monitor and evaluate student learning in the clinical setting.
  • Travel by vehicle is required when needed to participating clinical sites (compensation is adjusted based on mileage, gas, and parking).
  • Communicate with clinical preceptors and/or department personnel in the clinical setting when necessary regarding student progress, concerns, and/or issues.
  • Maintain current knowledge of program policies, procedures, and demonstrate current radiography procedures.
  • Correlate and coordinate clinical education with didactic education and evaluating its effectiveness.
  • Competent in the implementation and use of the clinical exam competency tracking system for student progress and clinical compliance tracking system.
  • Adhere to college course guidelines and ensure that the content covers ARRT required exam competencies and American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT) curriculum.
  • Evaluate student performance using methods appropriate to the course.
  • Communicate and work with career service team to obtain clinical sites and evaluate the progress of student performance in the clinical setting.
  • Maintain contact with specialized vocations where applicable.
  • Be alert to public relations opportunities and use these to promote the college in possibility of acquiring a clinical site and establish a potential partnership/relationship.
  • Adhere to all institutional policies and procedures.
  • Attend all required faculty, college, and division meetings.
  • Maintain professional development that is approved by the Program Director and Director of Education (DOE) which upholds current knowledge of the discipline and educational methodologies through participation in continuing professional development.
  • Demonstrate professional growth and development by attending professional seminars, workshops, conferences, and/or professional meetings.
  • Participate in on-campus professional development activities.
