Pay: $20 - $23 / hour

Job Summary:

The Banquet Cook will be responsible for preparing a wide variety of dishes for banquets, weddings, corporate events, and other special occasions. This role requires attention to detail, culinary expertise, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

  1. Prepare and cook a diverse range of dishes for banquets and special events, including appetizers, main courses, desserts, and side dishes.
  2. Adhere to standardized recipes and portion sizes to maintain consistency and quality.
  3. Coordinate with the Banquet Chef and other kitchen staff to ensure timely preparation and delivery of food for events.
  4. Monitor food quality and presentation to ensure that all dishes meet the standards of the establishment.
  5. Maintain a clean and organized workstation, following food safety and sanitation guidelines at all times.
  6. Collaborate with the kitchen team to streamline operations and improve efficiency in banquet food production.
  7. Train and mentor junior kitchen staff members, providing guidance on cooking techniques, presentation, and kitchen procedures.
  8. Communicate effectively with servers, event planners, and other staff members to ensure smooth execution of banquets and events.

Requirements:

  1. Proven experience as a cook in a banquet or catering environment.
  2. Strong knowledge of various cooking techniques, ingredients, and kitchen equipment.
  3. Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  5. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by event schedules.
  6. Attention to detail and a passion for creating high-quality dishes that delight guests.
  7. Knowledge of food safety and sanitation guidelines, with a commitment to maintaining a clean and hygienic kitchen environment.
  8. Ability to lift and carry heavy pots, pans, and other kitchen equipment.
  9. Positive attitude, creativity, and a willingness to learn and adapt to new challenges.

Physical Demands:

  • Frequent lifting, moving and carrying of kitchen ware, cleaning equipment, food boxes, garbage etc. weighing up to 25 pounds in the BOH.
  • Regular and prolonged standing and walking to prepare food, clean work station, move garbage, etc.
  • Occasional ascending/descending stairs across the restaurant to move food items, equipment, etc.
  • Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers
  • Frequent use of hand to finger motions, handle or feel objects, reach with hands and arms
  • Constant bending, stooping and turning to place dishes in machine, etc.
  • Constant exposure to hot and damp temperature fluctuations
