We are actively seeking a Painter’s Helper to join our team of talented people to help continue our tradition of innovation and market leadership. This position works out of our facility in Jacksonville, FL. Come and grow with us 

Painter’s Helpers prepare fabricated and purchased components for painting to produce equipment according to customer and engineering specifications. 

How you will make a positive impact: 

  • Examines surfaces to be sure parts are ready to be painted. 

  • Prepares surfaces for painting by scraping, using grinder, wiping down with paint thinner etc. 

  • Operates paint shop machinery and equipment including, but not limited to, overhead cranes, forklifts, and spray guns.  

  • Properly selects and utilizes rigging equipment to perform overhead lifts safely. Training and certification will be provided. 

  • Wears respiratory protection as required according to appropriate Federal, State, Local, and Company regulations.  Pulmonary function, respirator fit testing, training and certification will be provided. 

  • Reads job specifications to determine paint mixtures and material requirements. 

  • Mixes paint and other materials to prepare the right color or texture. 

  • Reads Safety Data Sheets (SDSs) for materials to determine appropriate levels of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required to handle paint and related materials. 

  • Handles and transports hazardous waste. Training and certification will be provided. 

  • Performs related duties as assigned by supervision.

Work Environment 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to high noise levels in the work environment and does require hearing protection. This position is highly safety sensitive as heavy components are being lifted and moved with cranes and forklifts daily.  The employee will also be asked to occasionally move equipment outside and will therefore be subjected sometimes to poor weather conditions. 

Physical Demands 

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift or move items over 50 pounds with a weight limit of 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.  The employee has to be physically able as determined by a physician or other licensed health care professional using OSHA’s medical questionnaire or an equivalent method to wear a respirator.  
 
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work 

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are typically Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for day-shift, 40 hours per week.  Overtime hours as needed.  Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. 

Travel 

No travel is expected for this position. 

Required Education and Experience 

  • High school diploma or GED diploma, or three to six months’ painting experience, or trade schooling, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
