OCCUPATIONAL SUMMARY – PRESS OPERATOR

  • Tends heated presses that mold and cure rubber goods.


WORK PERFORMED:

  • Tends heated presses that mold and cure rubber goods.
  • Opens press.
  • Sprays inner surface of mold with lubricant to prevent rubber from sticking.
  • Positions perform rubber in mold cavities.
  • May insert metal parts in mold cavities to join with rubber during process.
  • Closes and starts press.
  • Cures to time.
  • Strips articles from mold.
  • Tears flash ring from edge of work pieces. Removes rind from molds, using air hose and hand tools.
  • May cut preform rubber for molding.
  • Makes boxes for parts.
  • May stamp identifying data on carton by hand or machine.
  • Trims, inspects, and packages acceptable parts.
  • Keeps required production records.
  • Will be required to do any legal work activity which is a business necessity.
  • Housekeeping: Clean all work areas and empty trash before end of shift.
