JOB HIGHLIGHTS BELOW:

Primary Responsibilities

  • Perform field work for wetland and stream delineations
  • Demonstrate a basic understanding of scientific principles relative to plant identification, soil types, and hydrological characteristics
  • Assist with and lead collection of field data and perform basic data entry
  • Assist with preparation and review of reports, demonstrating an understanding of scientific writing, document organization, and writing principles
  • Assist in the preparation of Section 404/401 permit applications
  • Connect with professional networks to help drive business development
  • Communicate technical concepts in both verbal and written
  • Interact professionally both internally and externally, upholding Copperheads core values to advance a conservation ethic, inspire biological curiosity, and drive environmental innovation.


Key Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree or higher in environmental science, biology, ecology, botany, or related field
  • Strong technical writing, organization, and time management skills
  • Willingness to travel within Copperheads service area (midwest, southeast, and mid-Atlantic)
  • Self-motivation and attention to detail
  • Must hold a valid drivers license


Preferred Skills and Certifications

  • Minimum of 2-5 years of progressive experience in wetland delineation
  • Knowledge of applicable and relevant local, state, and federal regulations including the Clean Water Act (Section 404/401), Endangered Species Act, National Environmental Policy Act, National Historic Preservation Act, Section 10 of the Rivers and Harbors Act
  • Completion of a wetland delineation course in line with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Regulatory Program or Wetland Delineator/Delineation Certificate from an accredited organization.
  • Experience conducting field surveys for federal or state listed species
  • Certification as a Wetland Professional In-Training (WPIT) by the Society of Wetlands Scientists. Candidates with a QHP or QHP-IT certification in Tennessee a valuable plus.
