Job Summary:

The Lab Trainer for the Pre-Analytical Operations department is responsible for training Laboratory Assistants and Scientists in all phases of sample processing. The Trainer is responsible for providing input to Supervisors regarding the trainee’s progress and performance and may also conduct process and compliance audits as needed. The Trainer is responsible for training of new hires and existing employees on an on-going basis ensuring they can learn critical skills needed for career progression. This position requires strong training, presentation, facilitation, and communications skills. The ability to draw from both internal and external resources and knowledge to develop training materials and maximize effectiveness is required.

Essential Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Ability to perform the duties of Lab Assistant II
  • Responsible for coordinating and facilitating training for all newly hired Pre-Analytical Operations staff as well as continuous training for existing employees
  • Will serve as the SME for the department
  • Ensuring new employees have all the tools required during training
  • Develop programs and curriculum for the employees of the organization for in-job training
  • Updating training program with accordance to current processes and following proper approval chain
  • Developing and updating job aides as needed for employees
  • Collaborate with management to identify training needs and schedule appropriate training sessions for employees
  • Communicate with management to determine training needs and training schedules of employees
  • Communicate to management the status of personnel, procedures, workloads, etc. in a timely manner, notify management of any present or potential issues related to quality of service, processes, or compliance
  • Identify problem areas and develop plans and solutions
  • Analyze the effectiveness of training and develop appropriate modification when needed
  • Develop systems to monitor and ensure employees are performing their responsibilities according to the training
  • Provide support and mentoring for new employees while conducting an evaluation and identifying sections where improvements are needed
  • Problem solve issues that arise during training and communicate effectively to management the problem and solution
  • Works with the QA and Safety Supervisor; attends Committee meetings to implement changes as needed
  • Leads and/or assists in the development/ongoing continuous quality management for the laboratory
  • Evaluates and assists with lean projects in the laboratory that works to improve overall processes to help the company provide quality care in a cost effective and timely manner to its patients
  • 10% Travel required

Qualifications:

Education –

  • Bachelor of Science preferred or 2 years’ experience in training equivalent
  • Competencies/Skills –

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of all medical, financial, and legal information
  • Ability to work independently and complete work assignments accurately and in a timely manner
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to multitask

  • Creative mindset with ability to effectively communicate

Experience –

  • 2-years training experience
  • Basic understanding of laboratory procedures and protocols
