POSITION PURPOSE

Assist the Head Coach and Head Assistant Coach with all aspects of the Women’s Basketball Program. This position is a 0.77 FTE that works 1600 annual hours.


PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

Duties will include but are not limited to:

 

  • Recruit for the Women’s basketball head coach with online tools including Slate and Front Rush.
  • Travel to viewing tournaments to evaluate prospective student-athletes and meet with prospects when appropriate.
  • Manage the team’s social media accounts and build graphics for posts on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
  • Assist with coordination of on campus recruiting visits.
  • Assist the head coach in the preparation of practices as well as team and individual training sessions.
  • Assist with on-court instruction individually and with the larger team.
  • Scout opponents and assist with scouting reports and film breakdown.
  • Support team members’ academic success by coordinating academic checks, assisting with time management skills and accessing the Academic Resource Center (ARC).
  • Assist with preparation of in-season and out-of-season strength and conditioning workouts.
  • Assist Head Assistant Coach with the arrangement and supervision of transportation, lodging and meals for the team when traveling off campus.
  • Serve as a mentor, leader and role model for student-athletes and represent the College with integrity and sportsmanship at all times.
  • Special projects and duties as assigned by the Head Women’s Basketball Coach and/or the Head Assistant Coach.


REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

Must be able to explain and/or demonstrate possession of the knowledge, skills, and abilities to safely perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation. Specifically,


  • Knowledge of NCAA Division III rules and the ability to identify and recruit qualified student-athletes, including the ability to communicate effectively with recruits, parents, and coaches.
  • Outstanding skill instruction and teaching skills, ability to motivate students in both training and competitive realms, experience with training in and out-of-season, and the capacity to teach in both the varsity and academic settings.
  • Strong administrative, organizational and computer skills and an ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Appreciation for the role of intercollegiate athletics in a highly selective academic environment, and the desire to help student-athletes strive for balance in that rigorous setting.
  • Positively and actively contribute to the College's core values of diversity, equity, inclusion and antiracism.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Valid driver’s license with 3+ years of experience, and ability to successfully pass a background check and motor vehicle report.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2+ years successful coaching experience at the collegiate, club, or high school.

COMPENSATION

Successful applicants can expect to start at $19.04 per hour.
