SCOPE:

The Guidewire Architect at UAIC will be responsible for leading the architectural design and implementation of the Guidewire Claim Center system within the organization. This role will focus on ensuring seamless integration with the company’s data lake and advanced analytics platforms, enabling data-driven decision-making and supporting data science initiatives. The architect will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including business stakeholders, data scientists, and IT, to develop a scalable, flexible architecture that meets current and future business needs. Additionally, this role will provide technical leadership, ensuring best practices in data governance, security, and continuous improvement within the Claim Center’s architecture.This position offers a remote work arrangement, allowing the ideal candidate to work from their preferred location.

DUTIES:
 

  • Lead the end-to-end architectural design of the Guidewire Claim Center, ensuring its alignment with the company’s overall data ecosystem, including integration with data lakes and analytics platforms.
  • Develop a strategic roadmap for the evolution of the Claim Center architecture, incorporating data science capabilities, cloud technologies, and alignment with business objectives.
  • Ensure the architecture is scalable, flexible, and resilient to accommodate future business growth, technological advancements, and evolving industry standards.
  • Design architecture that balances performance, reliability, and cost-effectiveness, optimizing for both current operations and long-term strategic goals.
  • Design and oversee the implementation of the integration between the Claim Center and the organization’s data lake, ensuring efficient data ingestion, processing, storage, and retrieval.
  • Collaborate with data engineers to develop data pipelines that support seamless data flow from the Claim Center to the data lake, enabling advanced analytics and real-time data processing.
  • Define and implement best practices for data governance, ensuring data quality, consistency, and security across the Claim Center and the data lake.
  • Work with data scientists to ensure the data architecture supports the development and deployment of machine learning models, predictive analytics, and AI-driven solutions.
  • Collaborate closely with data science teams to understand their requirements for data access, processing, and analytical tools, ensuring the Claim Center architecture supports these needs.
  • Architect solutions that enable real-time analytics, including the integration of AI and machine learning models directly within the Claim Center for enhanced decision-making and operational efficiency.
  • Continuously monitor developments in data science, AI, and related technologies, incorporating new tools and techniques into the Claim Center architecture as appropriate.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to development teams working on the Claim Center and associated data projects, ensuring alignment with architectural principles and business goals.
  • Conduct architectural reviews and audits to ensure adherence to best practices, standards, and the strategic vision for the Claim Center’s technical architecture.
  • Lead the evaluation and selection of technologies, frameworks, and tools that best fit the Claim Center’s needs and the broader data ecosystem.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical challenges related to the integration and performance of the Claim Center architecture.
  • Act as a primary liaison between business stakeholders, IT teams, and data science groups, ensuring that the architectural design aligns with business objectives and operational requirements.
  • Facilitate workshops, technical meetings, and strategic discussions to gather input, present architectural concepts, and drive consensus on key architectural decisions.
  • Translate complex technical concepts into clear, understandable language for non-technical stakeholders, fostering collaboration and shared understanding across teams.
  • Oversee the implementation of the Claim Center architecture, ensuring it meets project timelines, quality standards, and scope requirements.
  • Collaborate with project managers to develop detailed project plans, including resource allocation, timelines, and risk mitigation strategies related to architectural components.
  • Ensure that the architecture supports continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) practices, enabling rapid, reliable updates to the Claim Center system.
  • Continuously assess and refine the Claim Center architecture, identifying opportunities for performance optimization, cost reduction, and enhanced functionality.
  • Drive innovation by researching and exploring new technologies, methodologies, and tools that can enhance the capabilities of the Claim Center and the broader data ecosystem.
  • Implement a culture of continuous improvement within the architecture and development teams, encouraging proactive identification and resolution of technical challenges.
  • Ensure that the Claim Center architecture complies with industry regulations, data protection laws, and internal security policies.
  • Collaborate with security teams to design and implement robust security measures within the Claim Center architecture, safeguarding sensitive data and ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct regular security assessments and audits to identify potential vulnerabilities and implement necessary remediation actions.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of the Claim Center architecture, including design principles, integration processes, and technical specifications.
  • Create and manage knowledge-sharing platforms to ensure that best practices, architectural decisions, and technical guidelines are easily accessible to development teams and other stakeholders.
  • Provide training and technical presentations to team members and stakeholders to ensure a thorough understanding of the Claim Center architecture and its components.


EDUCATION:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field.
  • Relevant certifications in cloud architecture, data science, or enterprise architecture are a plus.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in IT architecture, with significant experience in designing and implementing solutions for the Guidewire Claim Center.
  • Proven expertise in data science, including experience with data lakes, big data architectures, and advanced analytics.
  • Strong background in integrating enterprise systems with data platforms, including experience with cloud-based data lakes (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • In-depth knowledge of Guidewire Claim Center architecture and its modules.
  • Expertise in data lake architecture, big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark), and data engineering practices.
  • Proficiency in data science tools and languages (e.g., Python, R, SQL) and experience with machine learning frameworks.
  • Experience with cloud computing platforms and services, particularly in relation to data storage, processing, and analytics.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to design complex architectures that support data-driven decision-making.
  • Ability to solve complex technical challenges and provide innovative solutions that align with business goals.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Proven leadership and mentoring skills, with experience guiding technical teams and fostering collaboration across functions.
  • Experience in the insurance industry, particularly in claims management and processing.
  • Familiarity with Agile and DevOps methodologies.
  • Previous experience in implementing AI-driven solutions in a claims processing environment.
