The Speech and Language Pathologist Supervisor sets the standards for performance amongst all department members. This role evaluates the performance of individuals within the department while ensuring implementation of evidence-based practices, high quality service delivery, and compliance with the scope of practice and regulations within the field.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS- Organizes and manages Speech and Language Therapists and Speech and Language Pathology Assistants to include monitoring staffing levels, conducing candidate interviews, completing the onboarding process of new department staff, processes, assigns and addresses staffing, materials, and resource needs within the department
- Develops performance metrics, measures staff performance using appropriate tools and rubrics, and conducts assigned performance reviews as scheduled
- Identifies, addresses, and manages employee performance discrepancies, disciplinary issues, and training deficiencies for department members
- Implements performance management policies and positive management practices to result in high performing employees and teams
- Provides coaching to all team members in a supportive and collaborative manner and reviews and implements coaching and feedback from others to improve performance
- Performs and reviews standardized and non-standardized assessments, and provides 1:1 and group therapeutic services to students and feedback to department members
- Actively participates in the planning and delivery of professional development content to support the school model and most up to date evidence based practices within the field
- Manages, reviews, and approves records for data collection, analysis, program planning, IEP service delivery hours, and billing to ensure compliance across special education regulations
- Reviews, submits, and manages budgetary needs of department to include training up-to-date licensure, assessment materials, and required resources
- Completes other duties as assigned
This position is responsible for supervising the Speech and Language Pathologist position.
PHYSICAL DEMANDSThe physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The following positions or frequent movements are typical of the job: sitting, walking, standing, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, stooping, and crawling, often for extended periods of the workday. Assignment may require the ability to physically move students during possible physical interventions in order to maintain a safe learning environment.
The position requires that an individual be able to learn new tasks quickly and effectively. Job requirements may change frequently. The ability to understand and carry out detailed, involved, instructions is mandatory. The incumbent must be able to travel to multiple locations as needed, when needed to conduct organizational business. Subject to inside environmental conditions.
EXPECTED SCHEDULE
This is a full-time position with a minimum 40-hour work week expectation. The Speech and Language Supervisor follows the school calendar, including an obligation to work the 205-day student calendar in addition to 13 days of professional in-service, and one evening for Back To School Night. This position may also be required to work full break weeks during periods of heavy planning per supervisor.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS- Master’s degree in Speech and Language Pathology or a Master’s equivalency with the necessary 36 credits dictated by the provider qualifications and service descriptions, at least 30 of which are at the graduate level from an accredited University
- Active PA Teacher Certification in Speech or Educational Specialist Certification required
- Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP)
- Minimum 3 years of experience in Speech within educational and/or behavioral health model
- Speech and Language Pathology Licensure or minimum qualifications for Clinical Fellowship Year eligibility required
- Satisfactory completion of Safe and Positive Approaches (“SAPA”) Training required
- Experience working with individuals with Autism using principles of ABA highly desired
- CPR and First Aid Certification highly desired
- Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience preferred
- Demonstrates strong leadership abilities and organizational skills
- Effectively manage multiple priorities, projects, and deadlines
- Problem solves in a positive manner to analyze issues and create action plans
