Work Hours: Monday-Friday, 6 AM to 2:30 PM for training and then 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Pay: $17.00/hr to start
Job Description: We are currently seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Grey Sander to join our team. The Grey Sander plays a critical role in our manufacturing process, ensuring that surfaces are properly prepared and finished to meet quality standards. The ideal candidate will have experience in sanding and finishing various materials, along with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to producing high-quality products.
Responsibilities:
  • Operate sanding machinery and hand tools to sand and finish surfaces of various materials, including wood, metal, and composite materials.
  • Inspect surfaces for imperfections, such as scratches, dents, or rough spots, and use sanding techniques to smooth and level surfaces to required specifications.
  • Follow job orders and work instructions to determine sanding requirements for each project, including grit selection and sanding techniques.
  • Maintain sanding equipment and tools, including cleaning, lubricating, and performing minor repairs as needed to ensure optimal performance.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to prevent injuries and maintain a safe working environment.
  • Collaborate with other team members, including supervisors, quality inspectors, and production staff, to ensure efficient workflow and timely completion of projects.
  • Document work performed, including sanding specifications, materials used, and any issues encountered, to maintain accurate records and ensure traceability.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proven experience in sanding and finishing materials in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Familiarity with various sanding techniques and equipment, including belt sanders, orbital sanders, and hand sanding tools.
  • Ability to interpret job orders and work instructions to determine sanding requirements and specifications.
  • Attention to detail and ability to identify and correct surface imperfections to meet quality standards.
  • Strong manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new sanding techniques and technologies.
  • Physical stamina and ability to stand, bend, and lift for extended periods.
