Claims Analyst

This position is responsible for investigating, evaluating and negotiating settlement of claims to promote retention or purchase of insurance from J&J.
Job Responsibilities:
- Assign new claims to Third Party Adjusters or Insurance Carrier within contract limits
- Enter and update claims in the Claims Database
- Determine policy parameters such as terms, coverages, and deductibles
- Evaluate claims to determine settlement amount within authority limits and recovery opportunities
- Processes daily claim payment check mailing
- Develop basic understanding of liability and coverage principles
- Expense control
- Reserve awareness
- Consult with supervisor on unusual situations or where severity of claim exceeds own authority level
- Provide exemplary customer service by via phone/fax/email
- Review adjuster’s reports and determine activity
- Develop greater understanding of basic forms and coverages
- Manage multiple Fax and Email accounts to ensure prompt handling of submissions
- Work closely with Third Party Claims Adjustor to resolve claims in an expeditious and timely manner.
- Maintain diary and workflow within accepted company standards
- Provide exceptional customer service to both internal and external customers
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Pursue education to enhance industry knowledge
Education and Work Experience:
· Bachelor’s degree preferred and 1 to 3 years of property claims experience and adjusters license or AIC designation.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
- Strong customer service skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Proficiency in on-line reference manuals
- Knowledge of policy forms
- Ability to recognize exposure to loss
- Research skills, attention to detail, and coordination
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize, make quick decisions and be flexible in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work with difficult customers
- Ability to work under the direct supervision of the claims supervisor.
- Is easily accessible to customers
- Computer experience a must, MS Word & Excel experience required
- Minimum 50wpm typing speed
- Team Player

- Exceptional interpersonal skills
- Ability to clearly and effectively present (both written and verbal) to external business partners, management and internal business partners.
- Exhibits a professional appearance when representing the organization during agency visits or business meetings.
Typical Physical Demands:
· Requires the ability to sit or stand for long periods of time, occasional stooping, and reaching; May require lifting-up to 25 pounds; requires normal range of vision and hearing with or without accommodations.
