Job Overview

As a Banquet Manager, you are at the forefront of hosting events, banquets, or galas. Your primary responsibility will be planning the lay-out and set-up of an event, coordinating food and beverage delivery for hotel events and planning the details of events in all banquet and meeting rooms to maintain the quality and Margaritaville brand standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Banquet Managers promptly understand and respond to all guest needs and requests, deferring to the Banquet Manager, Banquet Captain, or Sales Manager when necessary to ensure guest satisfaction. The following list is not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive.
  • Supervisory role overseeing the banquet staff and team members.
  • Lead the planning and execution of an event.
  • Plan the number of staff required to support the events.
  • Monitor the placement of tables, decor, chairs, and cutlery at an event, per the theme and standards, to ensure guest satisfaction.
  • Ensure the schedule and timelines are documented and in place.
  • Collaborate with the Chef and brief them on various meal courses.
  • Liaise with the banquet sales manager and director at all times.
  • Devise actionable plans to stay under budget.
  • Train the trainer to educate new hire employees on brand standards.
  • Adhere to local laws and regulations while exercising the manager's responsibilities
  • Greets all guests courteously, friendly, and professionally as they arrive and thank them as they depart.
  • To be completely aware of the BEO and menu established for the event before service.
  • Provide prompt, efficient, and gracious customer service to banquet function guests.
  • Handling cash and bar transactions, including assisting team members.
  • To make the banquet staff aware of all guest comments and complaints.
  • To ensure, as directed, room set-up and breakdown, including setting and decorating tables, folding napkins, preparing condiments, filling salt and pepper shakers, and breaking down and storing tables and chairs.
  • To immediately report all suspicious occurrences and hazardous conditions and avoid injury to self and others.
  • To maintain the cleanliness and safety of work areas at all times.
  • To attend all mandatory meetings as directed.
  • To perform other tasks, including cross-training as directed.
Education and Experience
A bachelor's degree in catering or hospitality is preferred. Minimum Education requires a high school diploma or GED and a minimum of one year of experience in a similar role.

Knowledge and Skills Required
Basic knowledge of food and beverage.
English fluency
Must have correct Food Handlers certificate and is responsible for beverage service certificate.
Current CPR certification.
Must be detail-oriented, organized, and efficient.
Is diplomatic and calm with solid communication skills.
Courteous, friendly, and has a professional demeanor.
Ability to work productively with little supervision.
Trustworthy and reliable.

Working Environment

We are constantly moving between the indoor and outdoor environments throughout the shift. Works primarily indoors, in clean, well-lighted banquet and meeting rooms, some of which are temperature controlled. Exposed to weather conditions while serving and supervising outdoor functions and work areas. Makes frequent trips to the kitchen, where air may be moist, warm, and odorous cooking foods. Work on all surfaces, including grass, concrete, and tile.

Language Skills
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and guests.
  • Expressing or exchanging ideas or instructions by the spoken word.
Mathematical Skills
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Physical

Physical demands include standing/walking at moderate distances throughout the shift, bending, stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, and grasping to perform routine tasks, and moving objects weighing up to 40 pounds over moderate distances.
