Summary

This position works with various tools to grind, sand, or polish fabricated materials to improve their appearance, ensure they are safe, or prepare them for continued fabrication. Additionally, will join, fabricate, and repair metal and other weldable material by applying appropriate welding techniques. The chemical plant operator works within a chemical processing area within our facility and will be wearing safety equipment almost the entire time they are in the chemical processing area.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Grind, sand, clean, or polish materials to prepare surfaces for continued fabrication.
  2. Prepare materials and set-up for manual or semi-manual welding.
  3. Spot-weld materials together based on defines specifications.
  4. Maintain machinery and tools within Polishing department.
  5. Apply solutions and chemicals to treat equipment based on defined methods.
  6. Controls equipment systems that process chemical substances into specified products.
  7. Take samples and watch chemical reactions to test for product conformance.
  8. Adjust and calibrate equipment, working with technical personnel to achieve desired product specifications.
  9. Perform quality control inspections on the products, communicate defects, and rework components that have cosmetic or structural defects as needed.
  10. Monitors the production process and ensures efficiency of systems and equipment. Required to ensure that any filtration systems are functioning fine and to monitor tank levels to confirm there is enough space for operations.
  11. Unload, load, and package raw materials, waste products and products.
  12. Follow applicable inspection and documentation process in conjunction with company’s ERP system.
  13. Assists in the cross-training of others.
  14. Maintains inventory levels within area.
  15. Maintain a clean and safe work area.
  16. Act as a change agent recommending improvements of policies and procedure
  17. May be required to assist with training of other employees and/or expected to cross-train in other positions.
  18. Other responsibilities as assigned.
  19. Create and maintain procedures for all duties.
  20. Occasional, local travel for training or material pick-up.
  21. Works to foster a team environment with all members of the team.
  22. Meets culture expectations.

  24. Comply with all laws, regulations, and standards of ethical conduct.
