Project Overview:

The primary objective is to design and develop a framework for building Data Warehouses and moving data into Data Warehouses for public distribution. This involves creating a factory or system to construct Data Warehouses, ensuring compatibility with various user needs and cloud-based strategies. The candidate will devise a data strategy for SEFSC

Key Responsibilities:

  • Developing a Data Warehouse building framework using cloud-based strategies for integrating stock assessment data and migrating it from various sources, such as PL/SQL and Access, into a centralized Data Warehouse.
  • Creating data ingestion pipelines and implementing an ETL strategy for distributed data sources.
  • Developing customized front-end data viewing utilities for diverse users to access the same data in different ways, promoting data findability, accessibility, and usability.
  • Implementing data cleaning processes to eliminate duplication and save costs under cloud billing models, ensuring data accuracy and efficiency.
  • Architecting a relational Data Warehouse to combine disjointed datasets into a comprehensive and interconnected data record.
  • Adhering to FAIR principles (Findability, Accessibility, Interoperability, and Reusability) to modernize the data management landscape at the SEFSC, promoting data sharing and collaboration.
  • Fostering a culture of data governance based on collaboration and innovation, encouraging effective data management and scientific advice for Southeast Region and Atlantic high seas marine resources.
  • Enhancing the Center's ability to provide accurate and comprehensive data management and scientific advice for effective marine resource management.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in designing and implementing Oracle-based data warehouses or repositories.
  • Strong understanding of data validation techniques and data compliance principles.
  • Experience with data integration, data extraction, and data transformation tools.
  • Familiarity with fisheries data and data management systems.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a collaborative environment.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience
