Youth Resident Counselor

As a Youth Resident Counselor, you will facilitate a positive living environment for our teenage residents by offering support, encouragement, and guidance. The ability to understand the perspective of others is critical and staff must truly care about the success of youth. You will work alongside residents to support achievement of treatment goals through engagement in healthy and productive daily activities by doing the following:
- Leading daily programming activities and promoting positive participation
- Engage with residents through recreational activities, groups, meals, and other aspects of daily living
- Responding to critical resident needs as they arise
- Participate in developing and maintaining a therapeutic, safe, and supportive environment
- Actively participating in house and team meetings
- Attending initial and ongoing training sessions

This job is idea for someone with experience:

Some of the requirements of the position include:
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Must hold a valid driver’s license
- Ability to type and document daily activities
- Must be caring and resilient
- Current student or graduate with a degree in human services, behavioral counseling, criminal justice, or a related field preferred but not required
- Previous experience working with an adolescent population preferred but not required
The minimum shift requirement is one weekday shift per week and four weekend shifts per month. Additional shifts may be available for individuals interested in working additional hours above the minimum requirement. Typical shifts for this position include:
- Weekdays - 3pm to 10pm
- Weekends - 9am to 3pm, 3pm to11pm, and midnight to 6am
- Holidays (rotation) - 9am to 3pm, 3pm to11pm, and midnight to 6am
