SENIOR COMMUNICATIONS

Location: Dahlgren, VA

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Public Relations, or Marketing and four (4) years of related experience OR ten (10) years of related experience in public relations, public affairs, or journalism.
  • Experience in research, conducting interviews, writing, editing, and obtaining release/approval for various content formats.
  • Proficiency in using software applications such as Newport Enterprise Realtime Development Server (NERDS), Adobe Creative Cloud Production Premium, Microsoft Office Professional, AVS Video Converter, and screen capture software.
  • Strong project management skills and ability to coordinate multiple communication initiatives.
  • Ability to support employee communication programs, media relations programs, community relations, special events, and provide photography support.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Active Secret Clearance.
  • Valid driver's license.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Photography Support:

  • Deliver photography services for events annually, adhering to a journalistic (Associated Press) style.
  • Capture, crop, edit, and caption photographs using a digital camera system and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Assign Visual Information Reference Identification Numbers to photographs following Navy Style guidelines.
  • Create internal and external communication materials, including print, online products, social media content, and digital signage.
  • Maintain a comprehensive calendar and digital/hard copy archives of all events supported by photography.
  • Archive photographs on the government's internal site within two business days of capture.
  • Supply imagery for the Command's annual report.



Communication Plan and Auditing Support:

  • Assist in developing and writing an annual strategic communications plan, including research, data collection, metrics, and communication strategy execution.
  • Provide an annual internal communication assessment to evaluate effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
  • Coordinate employee surveys and assess communication effectiveness.
  • Conduct complete channel and content analysis reviews, recommending improvements and identifying gaps.
  • Assess current communications against best practices and provide recommendations for upgrading, consolidating, or discontinuing channels.
  • Present assessment findings and recommendations to the communications team and help build the new communication plan annually.

Digital Signage Network Content Development Support:

  • Develop content Government-furnished video screens and central Digital Signage.
  • Use tools such as Newport Enterprise Realtime Development Server (NERDS), Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, AVS Video Converter, and Snagit10 for digital signage content creation.
  • Schedule and track digital signage content.
  • Design content for safety, diversity observances, and holiday signage.
  • Update digital signage screens daily with content that runs on a weekly schedule, including weather, traffic, news, and sports updates.
