Paint & Body Technician Job Summary

We are looking to add a lead painter/bodywork technician to our ever-growing team on an asset yard. You may travel to various nearby job sites if needed to make electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic repairs on equipment such as excavators, loaders, trenchers, forklifts, and more. Applicants should have experience with paint and body repair so they can determine what parts and tools are necessary for repairs. You must have a valid driver's license to travel to job sites.

 

Paint & Body Technician Duties and Responsibilities

  • straighten, repair or fabricate bent or broken body components
  • build up dents or cracks in machine components with fiberglass/body fillers
  • repair plastic, fiberglass, and metal components
  • remove and replace mechanical components required in conjunction with bodywork
  • check alignment, straighten and align frame members and supports
  • replace broken glass
  • mix paints
  • remove finish from bodies (including sand blasting when necessary)
  • mask and paint machinery with appropriate spray equipment
  • polish/buff finished coats
  • properly handle hazardous materials and wastes
  • keep records and logs on material and equipment usage
  • maintain an organized work area.

 

Heavy Equipment Mechanic Requirements and Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED certificate
  • 2 to 5 years of experience with paint and heavy equipment body repair
  • Welding experience is a plus
  • Manual dexterity
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record
