Peak Potential Therapy is seeking caring, dependable, and fun-loving individuals to work as Summer Camp Aide / Support Staff with kids with special needs under the direction of a camp Lead.
Peak Potential Therapy has immediate openings for camp aides to provide appropriate academic, behavioral, and emotional support to clients with disabilities or behaviors. A camp aide with Peak Potential Therapy helps support the daily activities of one of our two therapeutic summer camps.
No training or certification is required upon hire.
Multiple shifts (part- and full-time) are available between 9:00 am to 4:00 pm daily. Most of the hours will be at our clinic in Northfield, OH.
Responsibilities and Duties
Working as a Support Staff requires following the direction of the Camp Lead, and helping facilitate a smooth summer camp experience for our clients. Teach and engage in a variety of activities to progress the kids' skills in social, cognitive, communication, self-care, and more.
- Working in a 1:1 or 1:2 ratio with children, ranging in age from 6 years - 21 years of age, with a primary focus on behavior support.
- General upkeep of client materials (making new client materials as well as organizing current materials).
- Prompt safe and socially acceptable replacement behaviors, to build a repertoire of communication, social interaction, and problem-solving skills.
- Must be able to handle behaviors such as aggression, tantrums, self-injurious behaviors, and potty training. This may include implementing crisis intervention practices at times (we will provide the appropriate training). This may include lifting and/or transporting children as needed.
- Being open and receptive to feedback.
- Objective in thought process.
Excellent communication skills.
