Assistant Mechanic OPPORTUNITY AT BAY COLONY GOLF CLUB

SUMMARY: Responsible for assisting the equipment manager in the repair and maintenance of various diesel, electric and gasoline powered equipment, the daily set up of all needed machinery and in the comprehensive preventive maintenance program.

HOURS/DAYS: Full Time. Hours and days fluctuate according to the needs of the golf course and golf club grounds.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITITES:

  • Inspects, diagnoses and repairs various golf course and landscape equipment to ensure proper performance including mowers, utility carts, tractors, rollers, and small engine tools
  • Checks equipment for performance on the course and makes emergency repairs when needed
  • Communicates any equipment related problems and maintenance issues to leadership
  • Set ups, modifies and services cutting equipment as directed
  • Maintains a clean and safe working environment and ensures that all equipment operates safely and efficiently
  • Instructs and/or trains golf course maintenance workers regarding the safe operating procedures and cleaning of equipment
  • Assists with organizing and general maintenance facility cleaning

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Working knowledge of light and heavy maintenance equipment and automotive apparatuses
  • Ability to diagnose mechanical troubles and determine appropriate repair
  • Skilled in the use of a variety of equipment repair tools
  • Working knowledge of safety precautions
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Knowledge of the game of golf and understand how job performance affects playing conditions on the course
  • Ability to weld
  • Maintain clean and well-organized work area
  • Ability to work long hours in a variety of weather conditions
  • Strong work ethic
  • H.S. Diploma or Equivalent
  • Valid Driver's License

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The position requires work performed in indoor and outdoor environments. Exposure to variable and adverse weather conditions. Exposure to loud noises, vibrations, fumes, airborne particles, grease, oil, and chemicals. Active, physical work involving heavy lifting (+50) pounds, carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, kneeling, crouching, bending, reaching, walking long distances, driving and operating equipment for extended periods of time. Requires focus adjustment, depth perception, clear close and distant vision. Use of ear protection, eye protection and other safety equipment. Light public contact.
