TITLE: SpeechLanguage Pathologist (SLP)
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s Degree from an accredited program in SpeechLanguage Pathology or Communication Disorders
- Louisiana SpeechLanguage Pathologist license
- Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) or Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) candidate
- Willingness to be trained and coached in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) strategies
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, parents, and other stakeholders.
- Knowledge of assistive technology, AAC systems, and communication devices commonly used by individuals with autism.
- Understanding of special education laws and regulations, including the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and the requirements for developing and implementing IEPs.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 11 months
PERFORMANCE EVALUATION: Annually
COMPENSATION: Salary position
PERFORMANCE/RESPONSIBILITIES:

PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assess and Evaluate: Assess and evaluate student communication skills and abilities, including language skills and speech production.
- Collaborate: Work with other multidisciplinary team members to develop a communication profile and a comprehensive plan to generalize the plan across various environments.
- Design Plans: Create individualized education plans (IEPs) with therapy goals based on assessment results and student needs.
- Implement Therapy: Utilize evidence based therapy interventions to target speech and language goals, pragmatic language, communication skills, and social emotional goals. Modify therapy techniques and strategies to accommodate students' unique learning styles and sensory needs.
- Provide Services: Deliver integrated speech services to students individually or in small groups within the classroom setting.
- Communicate with Families: Regularly communicate with parents or caregivers to report progress, share strategies for home use, and provide recommendations for supporting communication development outside of school.
- Maintain Records: Keep accurate and uptodate records of assessment results, therapy sessions, progress toward therapy goals, and communications with parents or caregivers.
- Monitor Progress: Regularly monitor and evaluate student progress through data collection and periodic reassessment to adjust therapy goals and interventions as needed.
- Participate in Meetings: Attend and contribute to (re)evaluation and IEP meetings, case conferences, and team meetings to review student progress, discuss concerns, and collaboratively develop plans for ongoing support and intervention.
- Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned.
ADA AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Position may involve: stooping, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, and other physical activity.
LIGHT WORK:
Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is routinely performed in an indoor and outdoor classroom setting.
