This is a remote position.
In this position, you can expect to:
- Analyze functional business applications and design specifications for functional activities, both for stand-along systems and integrated applications
- Translate detailed design into application systems
- Test, debug, and refine applications to produce the required product
- Support the preparation of required program and user-level documentation
- Provide technical direction to engineers to ensure program deadlines are met and defined standards are adhered to
- Develop and implement software applications tailored to DHS program needs
- Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code in accordance with federal standards
- Participate and help lead the full software development lifecycle, from design to deployment
- Conduct code reviews and perform software testing and debugging
Preferred Experience and Qualifications:
- Minimum 4-years of software engineering experience
- Demonstrated experience with JavaScript frameworks (Angular, Ember, or Backbone) and web application technologies such as HTML5, JavaScript, or CSS
- Experience with Bootstrap for developing and integrating web services APIs and SDKs, as well as relational database development (MySQL, PostgreSQ, or similar databases)
- Experience with APIs, one or more programming languages/frameworks such as Java, Python, Ruby, .NET, Node, TDD/BDD, CI/CD pipelines
- Experience with automated testing technologies such as RSpec, Cucumber, Jasmine, Protractor or related tools as well as automated cross browser testing with tools such as Selenium
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Experience working in collaborative, multi-stakeholder environments
- Knowledge of government agency delivery frameworks (DHS experience a plus)
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
