The NEEDS Center is looking for a Facilities Tech.


We are a local non-profit organization that provides services for adults with developmental disabilities in Day Centers & group residences (Group Homes) north of Boston.  In this position you will be part of a team that is responsible for the care and upkeep of the company’s properties. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities of the Facilities Tech:

  • Perform basic carpentry work including hanging doors, installing cabinets and counter tops, cabinet repair, basic trim work interior or exterior, etc.
  • Perform dry wall repairs and installation, as well as prep and painting work.
  • Respond to and completing service requests according to established procedures and company priorities.
  • Diagnose problems and makes minor repairs in a timely manner.
  • Perform general grounds work using hand and power equipment including, but not limited to lawn mowing, leaf removal, shrub and hedge trimming.
  • Responsible for snow removal using both company plow and hand and power equipment at assigned residential and day programs before, during, and after regular work hours, as well as on weekends and holidays as needed, to maintain safe conditions during storms and provide down to the pavement conditions following storms.
  • Ensure proper care and maintenance of tools and maintenance equipment.
  • Participate in emergency on-call schedule for after-hours maintenance issues.
  • Perform preventative maintenance duties including inspections in accordance with established programs; makes recommendations for improvements.
  • Work patiently, professionally, and cooperatively with residents and staff under the daily direction of the Facilities Director.
  • Preserve and respect confidentiality of individual information.
  • Complete work request forms, timesheets, etc. in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Other duties and/or special projects as assigned by Assistant Director of Facilities or the Administration Team.


Qualifications (Experience, Skills, Education):

  • High school diploma, G.E.D., Vocational or Technical school equivalent required.
  • Two years of experience in property maintenance work preferred.
  • Prior experience working in a residential setting is preferred.
  • Must be able to work independently and complete tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to take on-call responsibilities.
  • Must have basic carpentry, plumbing and electrical skills and experience.
  • Experienced and able to do dry wall repairs and installation, as well as painting prep and painting work.
  • Ability to work with and around people in a positive and cooperative manner.
  • Knowledge and skill in the safe use of hand tools and small power tools.
  • Must possess neat and orderly work habits and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge in HVAC and routine preventative maintenance a plus.
  • Solid verbal and written communications in English; other languages are a plus.
  • Self-directed, reliable, and responsible.
  • Maintain a valid driver's license and clean driving record.

The NEEDS Center specializes in providing services and support to individuals with developmental disabilities, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). There is a particular emphasis on providing services to individuals with interfering challenging behavior and/or dual diagnosis. The NEEDS Center’s philosophy is rooted in the tenets of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), and Positive Behavior Support (PSB). The services and supports provided by the NEEDS Center draw on the best of both disciplines in order to assist individuals to become as independent as they can be.
