Engineering Internship

Description

The City of Collinsville is accepting applications for a summer Engineer Intern. This position performs administrative duties in support of the Public Works Department. Responsibilities include assisting civil engineers during the summer months with public works projects. Duties include construction inspection and project design work, gathering schematic information, and performing other duties as assigned by the City Engineer. This position is geared toward undergraduate college students seeking to expand their professional knowledge and skills in the engineering field.

General Responsibilities

General Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:

• Perform field surveys for public works projects.
• Assists engineering staff with construction inspection and project design work.
• Prepares detailed drawings or sketches for various engineering projects.
• Collects field data utilizing GIS.
• Assures the maintenance of safe work areas and equipment, promptly corrects work hazards, as necessary.
• Maintain regular attendance and punctuality and possess a solid work ethic.
• Performs related duties as assigned by the City Engineer.

Requirements

This position requires enrollment in an accredited four-year college or university in civil engineering, or a related field. They need to meet all minimum requirements for employment with the City of Collinsville.
