Position Title: Military Training and Exercise Planner

Position Summary: The Military Training and Exercise Planner is responsible for facilitating and integrating joint readiness training objectives prior to, during, and after the execution of Exercise Northern Strike for the Michigan National Guard. This role involves close collaboration with the Exercise Northern Strike leadership team and the S2/3 OIC to ensure the success of key exercise objectives. The coordinator will act as the Subject Matter Expert on the integration of external exercises, providing feedback at battle rhythm events and attending Joint Exercise Lifecycle Conference events.


The ideal candidate will have demonstrated brigade command and staff-level experience in a joint environment and will have participated in national-level exercises. The role requires frequent travel throughout the year for coordination meetings, and presence on-site during the exercise execution, typically in the 4th quarter of the fiscal year.


Key responsibilities include attending and contributing to planning and execution events, coordinating with various units and planning teams, and delivering comprehensive after-action reviews and whitepapers post-exercise. The Exercise Integration Coordinator must possess strong written communication skills, capable of producing high-quality reports and articles for DoD publications.


This position is contingent upon contract award.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Develop relationships and products to facilitate joint readiness training objectives.
  • Collaborate with Exercise Northern Strike leadership and S2/3 OIC for mission success.
  • Attend and provide feedback at Exercise Northern Strike battle rhythm events.
  • Act as the Subject Matter Expert on exercise integration.
  • Coordinate and communicate exercise requirements at Joint Exercise Lifecycle Conferences.
  • Be present during exercise execution and participate in control or HICOM operations.
  • Deliver after-action reviews and produce whitepapers on exercise execution.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Security Requirements:

  • A National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) is required, and a favorable completion of FBI fingerprint History Check must be completed. A Common Access Card (CAC) is required for Base access and the Local Access Network (LAN).
  • Must be able to maintain SECRET clearance.

This position requires passing an extensive background check.

Qualifications:

  • Military experience within five years and at a battalion level or higher.
  • Brigade command and staff-level experience in a joint environment.
  • Experience with national-level exercises.
  • Strong written communication skills, equivalent to an undergraduate college education.
  • Prior experience in similar roles within the DoD or related organizations.
  • Advanced knowledge of joint readiness training and exercise integration.
  • Ability to travel frequently and work on-site during exercise execution.
  • Valid driver's license
  • Excellent and accurate written communication
  • Familiarity with Windows operating systems; online calendars and cloud systems; intermediate to advanced skills Microsoft office products required
  • Excellent attention to detail; accurate data entry
  • Customer Focused and team-oriented work ethic
  • Able to multi-task efficiently and accurately, focusing on quality
