BASIC FUNCTIONS:
PRIMARY: The MACHINIST - LEVEL II position is responsible for the operation of computer controlled machines to perform one or more machine functions on a variety of materials.
SECONDARY: Work with Shift Supervisors and Level III Machinist’s to continue training and learning the principles and best practices of CNC machining.
MINIMUM EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS: The following education and experience qualifications are the minimum required for the position of MACHINIST - LEVEL II:
- High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 2 years’ experience with CNC machining, aerospace blueprints/drawings and specifications OR equivalent education/experience required
- Skilled Trade certification from accredited college, community college, or vocational school preferred.
QUALIFICATIONS: The following education and experience qualifications are highly preferred for the position of MACHINIST LEVEL II:
- Basic knowledge of CNC equipment capability and daily maintenance
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
- Skill in performing mid-level math skills efficiently and accurately (including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using whole numbers, fraction and decimals)
- Basic knowledge of manufacturing processes related to the aerospace industry.
- Skill in using measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers and other inspection gauges
- Skill in reading and interpreting documents such as work orders, drawings, internal and customer specifications, manuals, and safety regulations.
- Ability to identify, organize, estimate, and recognize differences or similarities with excellent attention to detail Manes Machine & Engineering

RESPONSIBILITIES: The MACHINIST - LEVEL II upholds the following Responsibilities:
- Set Up CNC equipment with supervision as needed
- Change cutting tools and adjust machine feeds and speeds as needed
- Perform FP (First Part) and In-Process part inspections
- Utilize measuring equipment used in the industry such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, gauge pins, and other measuring equipment needed to complete work
- Utilize production work orders (Travelers) and associated documents to complete work
- Ensure all required documentation is complete and correct
- Use prescribed procedures to inspect part(s) and product(s) produced to assure compliance to specifications that will eliminate defects, scrap, rework, etc. Ensure part(s) meet all customer quality requirements per the company’s AS9100
- Detect and report defective equipment , materials, and/or faulty operations to Shift Supervisor
- Maintain equipment and work area is clean and in an orderly condition on a daily basis
- Follow prescribed workplace rules and standard safety regulations at all times
- Identify the need for the creation of work instructions and setup information for new work coming to the area
- Develop constructive and cooperative relationships with others and maintain them over time
- Identify and implement opportunities for process improvement and increased efficiency
- Perform other duties as assigned

and generate continuous improvement ideas and suggestions.
EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS: The following education and experience qualifications are the minimum required for the position of MACHINIST - LEVEL III:
- High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 5 years’ experience with CNC machining, aerospace blueprints/drawings and specifications OR equivalent education/experience required
- Skilled Trade certification from accredited college, community college, or vocational school preferred.
- Bachelor’s Degree (BA) from four-year College or University, with a technical major such as computer science or MIS (Management Information Systems) highly preferred.
QUALIFICATIONS: The following education and experience qualifications are highly preferred for the position of MACHINIST LEVEL III:
- Knowledge of CNC equipment capability and daily maintenance
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
- Skill in performing mid-level math skills efficiently and accurately (including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using whole numbers, fraction and decimals)
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes related to the aerospace industry.
- Skill in using measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers and other inspection gauges

- Ability to efficiently train Level I and II CNC Machinists in all aspects of the job. The duties of trainer would include on-the-job training.
