Job Summary:

The Irrigation Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of irrigation systems in residential properties. This role ensures efficient water use and the proper functioning of irrigation systems to support healthy and attractive landscapes. The Residential Irrigation Technician will work closely with homeowners and landscaping teams to meet specific irrigation needs and preferences.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install new irrigation systems according to design plans and client specifications.

  • Lay out and connect piping systems, ensuring proper water flow and coverage.

  • Set up and program irrigation controllers and timers to meet the watering needs of various plants and lawn areas.

  • Conduct regular inspections of irrigation systems to ensure they are operating efficiently.

  • Perform routine maintenance tasks such as cleaning filters, adjusting sprinkler heads, and testing system components.

  • Identify and repair issues such as leaks, broken sprinkler heads, and malfunctioning valves promptly.

  • Adjust irrigation systems to optimize water usage and coverage based on seasonal changes and plant growth.

  • Use specialized tools and equipment to locate and repair underground leaks and damaged components.

  • Provide professional advice and recommendations for system enhancements or replacements.

  • Communicate effectively with homeowners to understand their irrigation needs and preferences.

  • Provide detailed explanations of work performed, including any necessary repairs or adjustments.

  • Offer maintenance tips and best practices to clients for keeping their irrigation systems in optimal condition.

  • Maintain accurate records of installations, maintenance activities, and repairs performed.

  • Follow safety guidelines and protocols when working with irrigation systems and tools.

  • Ensure compliance with local codes and regulations regarding water usage and irrigation systems.

  • Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as necessary to ensure safety.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent. Technical training or certification in irrigation systems is preferred.

  • Landscape Irrigator or Technician license required

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in residential irrigation system installation, maintenance, and repair.

  • Proficiency in installing, maintaining, and repairing residential irrigation systems.

  • Knowledge of various irrigation components, including valves, controllers, and sprinkler heads.

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to read and interpret irrigation plans and blueprints.

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.

  • Physical ability to perform manual labor, including digging, lifting, and working in various weather conditions.

Work Environment:

The Residential Irrigation Technician will work primarily outdoors, exposed to various weather conditions. The role involves physical labor, including lifting heavy equipment, digging, and bending.
