Job Title: Senior Machinist - CAD, CNC Programming & Tooling Specialist

Job Summary:
As a Senior Machinist at Selkirk Sport, you will be at the forefront of producing high-precision parts essential for our innovative products. This role requires expertise in programming, setting up, and operating CNC machinery, particularly for creating molds and custom machinery. You will collaborate closely with our engineering and design teams, translating concepts into meticulously crafted parts, ensuring both functionality and manufacturability. Your contributions will be pivotal in driving product development and enhancing our manufacturing processes.

We seek a detail-oriented professional with a deep understanding of CAD/CAM software and a robust background in machining diverse materials. If you're passionate about precision engineering and enjoy working in a dynamic environment where innovation meets craftsmanship, this role is perfect for you. You will work closely with our engineering and design teams to bring innovative products to life.


Key Responsibilities: CAD/CAM Design and Programming:
  • Create, modify, and optimize CAD designs for a variety of tooling and parts.
  • Develop CAM programs for CNC machinery, ensuring efficiency and accuracy.
  • Collaborate with the design team to refine CAD models for manufacturability.
  • Perform simulations to validate tool paths and anticipate potential issues.
CNC Machining:
  • Set up and operate the Haas VM-3 Mold Making Mill and other CNC machines.
  • Machine complex, high-precision parts from a variety of materials, including metals and plastics.
  • Troubleshoot and adjust machine settings to maintain tight tolerances.
  • Perform regular maintenance on machines to ensure optimal performance.
Quality Control:
  • Inspect finished parts using precision measuring tools to ensure they meet specifications.
  • Document and maintain records of all work performed, including CAD files, CAM programs, and quality reports.
  • Work closely with the quality control team to resolve any issues and improve processes.
Project Management:
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Provide input during project planning stages, including material selection, tooling design, and workflow optimization.
  • Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams, including engineering, design, and production.
Custom Machine and Part Development:
  • Design and fabricate custom machines and parts as needed for various applications.
  • Work on R&D projects to develop new products and improve existing ones.
  • Innovate and suggest improvements to processes and products based on machining expertise.
Qualifications:
  • Proven experience as a CNC machinist with a strong background in CAD/CAM programming.
  • Proficiency with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, Fusion 360).
  • Extensive experience operating CNC mills, preferably Haas machines.
  • Ability to work independently and solve complex machining problems.
  • Strong understanding of materials, tooling, and machining processes.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with injection molding and thermoforming molds.
  • Experience with custom machine design and fabrication.
  • Previous experience in a job shop environment.
