Overview


TPG is seeking motivated, dependable and safe CDL A Diesel Mechanic to test vehicles and their systems for a Commercial Vehicle Systems manufacturer in Elyria, OH. This position is responsible for installing and testing driver assist systems to support development teams. In addition to preparing for and performing tests, the position will be responsible for coordinating mileage accumulation by organizing vehicles, data acquisition, and contract drivers. The position will also be responsible for analyzing results, processing contract driver feedback, developing process improvements, and making recommendations.


Essential Functions

  • This position will be assigned to DAS scrum teams to support work in the garage, vehicle, and lab, for driver assistance system vehicle installation and testing
  • Coordinate vehicle and contract drivers for mileage accumulation
  • Install and verify operation of driver assistance systems on test and customer trucks, including on road and test track testing
  • Perform vehicle Instrumentations and electronic systems retrofits onto test and customer vehicles in a Vehicle Lab/Garage environment
  • Be an expert user of data acquisition and diagnostic tools
  • Run automated reports on data collected from mileage accumulation driving
  • Write technical reports to document test results and conclusions
  • Maintain and develop work instructions and test procedures
  • Pursue improved processes, methods and equipment for cost, quality and delivery

Requirements

  • Commercial Driver License and driving experience with tractor-trailer endorsement
  • 5+ years of experience working with vehicle systems, preferably commercial
  • Experience with vehicle test instrumentation and data acquisition systems
  • Demonstrated mechanical and electrical aptitude
  • Brake component and systems knowledge is a plus.
  • Coordinating vehicles and drivers to meet scheduled mileage milestones

  • Ideal candidate is a self-starter with a high level of energy and a positive/proactive work ethic.
  • Familiar in the use of data acquisition systems and the ability to assimilate data quickly
  • Desire to learn new tools and develop a cross-functional skill set.
  • Strong technical aptitude; comfortable and skilled at working in automotive/truck service environment.
  • Excellent organization skills with a capability to prioritize time and resources to achieve the completion of tasks / goals.
  • Must possess a strong set of interpersonal skills to ensure success in a cross-functional, team environment developing solutions through collaboration.
  • Capable of performing in a highly stressful environment.

Education:

  • Associate degree in Engineering Technology is desirable
  • With the Associate degree in Engineering Technology seven years' experience is required. Without Associate degree then high school degree and nine years of related technical experience is required.

Travel:

  • Expected travel up to 25% to customer other internal sites

Schedule

  • 8am-5pm or 7am-4pm
  • Minimal Overtime (as needed)
