Hours: Monday-Saturday 8am-5pm, with overtime as needed
Starting Pay rate: depending on experience, minimum of $15/hr
Must pass pre-employment drug screen and background check
Job Description
The Scrap Yard Torcher and Catalytic Converter Cutter is responsible for dismantling vehicles and other equipment using a cutting torch and other hand tools to extract non-ferrous metals, including catalytic converters. The torcher will also be responsible for ensuring that all materials are properly segregated, as well as maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Dismantle vehicles and other equipment using a cutting torch and other hand tools to extract non-ferrous metals, including catalytic converters.
Ensure that all materials are properly segregated
Assist in maintaining accurate inventory records and tracking the movement of materials.
Foster positive relationships with customers and vendors to encourage repeat business and maintain a positive reputation in the industry.
Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations regarding salvage yard operations.
Maintain a safe and clean work environment, including enforcing safety protocols and ensuring that all employees are adhering to environmental regulations.
Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum of 1 year of experience using a cutting torch and other hand tools to dismantle vehicles and equipment.
Knowledge of non-ferrous materials and their value.
Ability to work as part of a team and independently.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Familiarity with local, state, and federal regulations regarding salvage yards.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
Ability to work in various weather conditions.
