Summary:

Intern serves as team member within the applicable department to provide support for new or existing medical devices. This position requires being on site in Fort Myers FL. Position is for summer interns with the option to work during school breaks.

Main Activities/Responsibilities:

  • Responsibilities vary based on the specific discipline and are determined by the hiring manager of the project.
  • Use SolidWorks to create/revise 2D parts drawings, 3D products Assembly models, visualization, and products assembly drawings.
  • Generate bill of materials (BOM) matching with SolidWorks drawings exploded view and ensure that the components and quantities are correct and accurate per engineering specifications.
  • Assistance with additional activities in the Department may be required.
  • Mild clerical work at times, but greater emphasis on projects requiring technical/engineering problem solving & documentation skills.
  • Data driven mindset for collection and analysis such as time studies, report generation and technical document generation for manufacturing.
  • Performs tasks in accordance with applicable requirements of the FDA Quality System Regulation, ISO 13485, MDD, CMDCAS and any other applicable regulations.

Competencies:

  • Strong communications skills, both written and verbal.
  • Technical depth in general PC hardware.
  • Proficiency with MS office applications.
  • Must be self-motivated and well organize, focus and business oriented.
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Must have strong organizational, data collection and report writing skills as per a lab setting.
  • Technical writing and reviewing documentation skills.
  • Candidate must have a background in SolidWorks core concepts, minimum 3 years’ experience preferred.
  • Students must be in good academic standing at their university, with a preferred GPA of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale.

Reporting Relationships and Supervision:

  • This position works under the direct supervision of the manager and/or lead.

Education and Experience:

  • Second to third year engineering student preferred.
