Job Summary: The Coating Mechanic B supports the painting team in various tasks related to construction and industrial projects. This role is crucial in assisting the successful completion of projects while ensuring adherence to Hudspeth's safety standards and protocols.
Responsibilities
- Assist painters in surface preparation, including sanding, cleaning, and priming.
- Mix paints and prepare painting materials as directed by the lead painter.
- Aid in applying paints, varnishes, and other coatings using brushes, rollers, or spray equipment.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, including cleaning and maintaining painting equipment.
- Follow all safety procedures and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Transport and set up ladders, scaffolding, and other necessary equipment.
- Perform minor repairs and touch-ups as needed.
- Basic knowledge of painting techniques, tools, and materials.
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
- Basic mathematical skills for measurements and mixing paint.
- Physical ability to perform tasks that involve bending, lifting, and standing for extended periods.
- Work takes place on construction sites or industrial facilities.
- Potential hazards include exposure to chemicals, fumes, and heights.
- Physically demanding job that may require lifting heavy objects and working in tight spaces.
- May involve working outdoors and in various weather conditions.
- Flexible work schedule based on project needs.
Preferred Education, Experience, Knowledge and Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- No specific certifications required, but relevant training in painting or construction is a plus.
- 2 years of experience in a construction or painting-related role.
- Familiarity with various types of paints, coatings, and application methods.
- Proficiency in using basic painting tools and equipment.
- Ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing project requirements.
- Basic computer skills for documentation and communication.
- Effective communication skills to coordinate with the painting team and supervisor.
- Problem-solving skills to address unexpected challenges on the job.
- Willingness to take direction and contribute to a positive team dynamic.
- Physically able to lift up to 50 pounds and perform manual labor tasks.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and crouch for extended periods.
- Ability to work in environments with varying noise levels and weather conditions.
- Mental resilience to handle physically demanding and occasionally repetitive tasks.
