Bollinger Motors is looking for a highly motivated individual to manage the company’s government affair efforts. This position plays a significant role in the future expansion and success of the business. You will collaborate closely with various company departments, outside firms and associations, and government officials throughout the country to ensure that the company is well positioned to develop, manufacture, sell, and deliver our vehicles to consumer and commercial customers. This position will report to the CAO & General Counsel. This is a full-time, in-person position located at the company’s Oak Park, MI headquarters.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead preparation and submission of proposals and applications for local, state, and federal incentives related to job creation, infrastructure investment, research & development, and job training.
  • Manage relations with industry/advocacy associations; attend meetings and represent Bollinger Motors during industry discussions and roundtables; identify key issues and brief the General Counsel as appropriate; and execute association engagement on priority issues.
  • Serve as a liaison with other departments within the company; help coordinate inter-department projects and efforts; research and prepare briefing documents on new laws, regulations, and policy issues, as necessary.
  • Manage day-to-day state and local government affairs efforts for the company, including preparing briefings to government officials and legislative committees; drafting written testimony responding to state and federal proposals; tracking and monitoring priority legislation; and coordinating facility tours and other related events with elected officials.
  • Manage compliance and reporting requirements for successful incentive rewards.
  • Coordinate lobby reporting logistics with the companies outside compliance firm.
Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with a political science, public administration, business, or communications emphasis.
  • 7+ years’ experience in executive / legislative offices, corporate / non-profit government affairs, or similar positions.
  • Background in the automotive industry, business advocacy, economic development, and/or government incentives is preferred.
  • Ability to work in a small to mid-sized organization and entrepreneurial culture with less defined roles and smaller teams.
  • Analytical skillset with the ability to think in the big picture while also willing to be hands on and detail oriented.
  • Well-rounded individual with an enthusiasm for learning new things and working in different areas across the organization.
  • Occasional travel within the United States may be required. Applicants must have a valid driver’s license.
