Reports To: Concessions/Retail Manager

Type of Position: Non-Exempt

Classification: Seasonal

Compensation: $14.42/hr + tips and commission

Location: Durango, Colorado


Job Description: We're looking for Onboard Concessions Attendants who are engaging and motivated people that enjoy working with the public. They’re “the face” of the railroad, working as bartenders, tour guides, and salespeople on board the train. They share the amazing history of the Durango & Silverton with our guests while selling and serving both non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages, food items, and souvenir items.


Ideal candidates will have enthusiastic personalities and a professional appearance. While bartending experience is helpful, it’s not required. We’re happy to train the right people.

Requirements:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide outstanding customer service to train guests in a fast-paced environment
  • Detail oriented in regard to maintaining inventory levels
  • Handle cash and credit card transactions with precision and accuracy
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment
  • Ability to speak in front of the public
  • Ability to work independently, without direct supervision

Education, Skill and Experience:

  • Accurately handle cash and credit card transactions
  • Experience operating cash registers and point of sales systems is helpful, but not required
  • Ability to speak languages other than English is helpful, but not required
  • Ability to complete basic math tasks is required

Work Environment:

  • Must be able to stand and walk for approximately 10 hours per day
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • Available to work evenings, weekends, and overtime
  • Able to stand and walk on uneven or unsteady surfaces aboard a moving train
  • Ideal candidates are not prone to motion sickness
  • Ideal candidates are at least 21 years old
