Fab-Tex, a busy medium/ heavy duty truck shop located in western Suffolk, NY, is expanding its service team. We are currently looking to hire a Truck Mechanic who is willing to grow with our company.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform required inspections and preventive maintenance on vehicles and equipment, including tractors, trailers, light-duty vehicles, dump trucks, and more.
  • Complete vehicle inspection report write-ups timely and efficiently.
  • Diagnose the cause of any malfunction and perform repairs to correct specifications including, but not limited to, engines, transmissions and suspension, fuel and ignition system, and exhaust, intake, electrical, mechanical, brake, and HVAC systems.
  • Problem solve/ quality check while following procedures including documenting all work performed on work orders.
  • Inspect reports, list of repairs and parts, identify root cause of basic failures/ conditions to fix as required, replace defective components, and utilize diagnostic computers when applicable.
Requirements:
Minimum 2 (TWO) years of experience
  • Diesel engine repair: 2 years (preferred)
  • Mechanical knowledge: 2 years (preferred)

  • The mechanic must provide own tools necessary to perform maintenance, repair and diagnostics.
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism, motivation, focus, and organization.
  • Current and valid drivers license (CDL preferred, but not mandatory).
  • Must have great communication skills within a team environment.
  • Can work in a face-paced shop without sacrificing quality of work.
Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are a representation of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
  • The employee is required to stand, walk, grasp tools, hear, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, sit for an extended time period, lift/ move up to 25 lbs, and have good vision.
  • Working conditions: Large facility, overhead cranes

Job Type: Full Time or Part time

Salary based on experience: $30-$45.00 per hour

Schedule:
  • Monday-Friday
  • Flexible Hours
  • Full-time Day Shift: Mon-Fri 8am- 4:30pm
  • Part-time: 3-5 days, Flexible hours (Day or Night)
  • Shifts Available: Mon-Fri 8-5:30pm / Mon-Fri 8-1:00pm
**ALL SHIFTS ARE FLEXIBLE**

  • Overtime available, on average 10 hours a week overtime
  • Weekend availability
Work location: one location
