Job Summary

The Prep Cook ensures the quality, consistency and production of all food menu items. The Prep Cook prepares the ingredients that allow the line cooks to provide guests with a superb dining experience.

Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Handles all food items by washing, chopping, and cutting according to recipe specifications.
  • Maintains cleanliness and sanitation of assigned station as well as the entire kitchen.
  • Follows production lists when completing assignments.
  • Possesses in-depth knowledge of assigned recipes and actively shares new culinary knowledge. 
  • Ensures all stored product is labeled and stored following FIFO and company standards.
  • Communicates product needs to the chefs, and the support staff.
  • Properly sets-up prep station and performs other opening/closing procedures as directed by management.

 

Our Ideal Candidate

  • Has at least one year previous experience as a Prep Cook in a medium/high volume restaurant.
  • Has conversational fluency in Spanish
  • Demonstrates effective oral & written communication, interpersonal and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Possesses excellent organizational skills, problem-solving skills and time management ability.
  • Actively contributes as a team player by supporting co-workers throughout each workday.

Certifications Required

  • Food Handling Safety certification

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Must be able to stand, walk, lift and bend for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to bend and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Role may include job duties or tasks requiring repetitive motion.
  • Role may include exposure to hot kitchen elements or cleaning materials.
  • Must be able to work and remain focused in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule with varying shifts days, evenings, weekends and holidays
