Full-Time or Part-Time Position
Overview: Responds to the patient’s clinical needs in a manner consistent with the caring philosophy of Chestnut Dental. All responsibilities are to be performed with accuracy, efficiency, and a team-oriented emphasis.
Reports to: Hygiene Supervisor
Position Summary:
Performs dental hygiene duties to promote quality dental care for our patients in a stress‑free, safe environment. Provides effective oral hygiene instruction, scaling, prophylaxis, conducts x-rays (DEXIS), documentation, patient and parent education, stocks and maintains office, equipment and inventory.
Follows universal precautions, OSHA and HIPAA requirements to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.
Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
Physical Requirements:
Must be in good physical condition and able to withstand the stress and demands of an active position. Must be able to withstand many hours of standing, walking, stooping, bending, and sitting. Manual dexterity, good eye‑hand coordination, and adequate vision needed in daily work.
Job Specifications:
- Current State of MA Dental Hygiene license
- BLS Certification
- Current Hepatitis vaccine
- Continuing education requirements fulfilled
Competencies:
- Ability to deal with confidential information, adhering to all HIPAA policies and procedures.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, asking for assistance when needed.
- Positively represents CDA to patients and families by exhibiting excellent communication and human relations skills, maintains friendly attitude at all times, and works well with children (if in pediatrics).
- Ability to work well with and manage conflict with difficult patients and/or parents.
- Works well with interruptions and effectively manages multiple priorities, completing tasks in a timely manner, and able to work effectively and efficiently under pressure to stay on schedule.
- Exhibits professional behavior and is respectful of all CDA staff, patients and outside representatives at all times.
- Works well with doctors, administrators, supervisors, and colleagues.
- Speak, understand, and write fluent English.
- Possess and maintain current knowledge of dentistry.
- Demonstrate manual dexterity skills.
- Adheres to all Chestnut Dental policies and procedures as outlined in the CDA Employee Handbook.
